President Obama SINGS Al Green Let's Stay Together link to Oprah Supporting Obama Re-election: youtu.be It cost $200 a ticket to hear President Obama speak at a fundraiser Thursday in New York. Obama singing? That was just a bonus. The president thrilled the crowd of about 1400 at the landmark Apollo Theater when he briefly launched into song, crooning a few lines of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" to the surprise of, well, just about everyone. Even more -- he wasn't half bad. "Don't worry, Rev. I cannot sing like you," he joked. "I just wanted to show my appreciation." The event was one of several Big Apple fundraisers the president attended Thursday while his would-be Republican foes were sparring at a debate in South Carolina. Others had price tags of $5000, $15000 or even $35800. But some supporters got to hear the presidential pipes for as little as $100. In his remarks, Obama pressed his case for a second term, and for his troops to be just as fired up as they were four years ago. Herman Cain, your version of "imagine" is OK, but let President Obama show you how it's done. The commander-in-chief took some time during a fundraiser at New York's famous Apollo Theater to croon a little Al Green to an audience that included...the reverend Al Green himself. When the president mentioned the soul legend was in attendance, he sang a snippet from Green's classic "Let's Stay Together." Obama then feigned surprise that the Sandman didn't come to yank him off stage--a reference to Apollo mainstay Howard Sims who would comically usher failed acts back behind the curtain. This may be the most musical presidential campaign in recent history. The question is, Mitt Romney, what's in YOUR repertoire? "Let's Stay Together" is a pretty good slogan, and it sounds like Obama has the reverend's permission to use it.

Then, after a pause, he began to sing the opening line of one of Green's hit songs from 1972: "Let's Stay Together." "I'm.... sooo in love...." The crowd of 1400 supporters went wild.

www.PromoSeanTV.com Shortly after taking the stage tonight for a fundraiser at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, President Obama broke into song. Obama, standing behind the presidential podium, thanked his hosts and the performers who preceded him, including soul singer Al Green. "To know that Rev. Al Green was here!" Obama said. Then, after a pause, he began to sing the opening line of one of Green's hit songs from 1972 "Let's Stay Together." "I'm.... sooo in love...." The crowd of 1400 supporters went wild. The lyrics of full opening stanza of the song read: "I'm, I'm so in love with you. Whatever you want to do. Is alright with me 'Cause you make me feel, so brand new. And I want to spend my life with you." The tune's refrain underscores a theme of Obama's re-election campaign: "Let's, let's stay together. Loving you whether, whether. Times are good or bad, happy or sad." (The president did not sing this part, however.) "Those guys didn't think I would do it. I told you I was going to do it," Obama said with a smile and a chuckle, looking off stage. "The sandman did not come out. Now don't worry, (inaudible) I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation," he said. The Apollo event was Obama's fourth campaign event of the night in New York City. It was hosted by Tony Award-winning composer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda with performances by soul singer Green and vocal artist India.Arie. Tickets were $200 apiece for general admission.
